In Florida, determining what sheathing, fasteners and framing details to use in a residential construction, among other constrants, depend on the wind zone. Would type of exposure (A, B, C or D)also have to be used in planning the framing, sheathing and fastener choice?

Where would one look in the code book to determine what thickness and type of sheathing is acceptable on the gable face of a single family residential, facing a river , 3 miles from the coast in the Wind Borne Debris zone (120 to 130), 2 story home.
I am interested not just in the answer to this question but too, on how to use the code book to find the answer.

Thanks, Mike.

mikeo56,

This would be exposure "C", the sheathing on the gable would most likely be the same as the sheathing on the wall below.

For a complete understanding of all loads from foundation to roof I suggest buying this book:

This is an excellent resource for all loading on any type of building.
