Centrifugal compressor simulation question.

Hi all, I have recently been reading a dynamic simulation report on a centifugal compressor set that refers to a couple of terms that I'm not familiar with-

a) "Settle out pressure". b) "S curve".

Could someone please explain to me what these terms mean? Thank you.
