Hi everyone,
I am trying to install a helical coil into a big container with 267 cm diameter and 350 cm height to cool 14000 kg 50 degree Celsius polyurethane to 30 degree Celsius in 30 minutes( we use the material to produce rigid foam)note:the container has a blender to mix the material. the inlet cooling fluid temperature will be 6 degree Celsius water and I do not know what should be the rate of the cooling water to meet the goal. please help me with the calculation of the heat exchanger capacity and efficiency. please help me to calculate the capacity of the suitable chiller for this matter.

the helical coil is made by using 2" steel pipe and has 11 turns with 235 cm diameter with 30 cm pith ,the OD of the pipe is 58 mm and its thickness is 2 mm

You could make a lot of progress on this problem by consulting several sections in Process Heat Transfer by Kern, and Fluid Mixing Technology by Oldshue. The Chemical Engineers' Handbook by Perry or Green could prove handy too.

Good luck,

To a ChE, the glass is always full - 1/2 air and 1/2 water.
