Does anybody know where to get a spreadsheet which will allow me to do cable sizing quickly. I was thinking of a Microsoft Excel file. The types of calculations which will be required, are as follows:-

To calculate the Design Current
To choose a suitable cable for the above
To check if the voltage drop is acceptable

I was going to try and put one together myself but I'm not sure on how to go about it.

If anybody could help, please let me know.it.

yeah, I'm using the 16th edition regulations, but I was wondering if there was a spreadsheet which already had this info, i.e. drop down menus so you can select the required cable, then from this you can choose your length. Just trying to look for a quicker way.

Steve

We have such a spreadsheet at work for cable sizing for motors. It would not be possible for me to post on the web, but I could email you the file, for private use.

Try going to littlefuse web site and select the EDR free download- this program is great. It give you series voltage drop for all sizes and combination of cables, that can be used to determine the percentage drop for applications like Parking lot pole lighting fixtures loads. It does simple fault currents for bldg systems and one step down transformer. It has a lot more- try it. This program is not for rookies, you need to know a little about the loads you are using and some NEC.

Ken, I'd appreciate if you could send me the spreadsheet which you mentioned in this post. My email address is

many thanks

advidana, I'd also like to say a big thankyou to you, the software you have suggested is ideal, the only thing is that to get the full use out of the software I will have to purchase an unlock code, can you help ?

Steve

steve Try:
Contact your Little Fuse Representative and see if he can get you a unlock code or pay the the fee to EDR, I think it is $125.00 for three working copies. I have used this software on every parking lot job I do. It saves me time and worry. I got it free when it first was release. But now I am hooked, I would pay the fee if I had to.
