I'm in the process of designing a scour protection reinstatement in front of an existing gravity quay wall. The proposed scour protection is an 800mm thick layer of 100-200kg rock.
I'm not intending to incorporate any granular filter(s) layer(s) owing to the limitations in dredge depth resulting from high risk of failure of the quay wall. Instead, a grade A10 geotextile is proposed. Top level of the proposed scour protection (and seabed level)is at -13m CD.
(1)Can anyone advise if the rock will not puncture the geotextile during placement? Or any form of advice to solve this problem if this risk will prevail? The sea bed is comprised of a sandy material.
(2) Advice on different methodologies of placing geotextile?
Thanks in advance.........
