I need to bond a small .030 thick x .60"tall x 4"wide aluminum nameplate on a baked enamel painted chassis. It will be mounted on a vertical side of the chassis. It needs to mounted securely but still be able to be removed in a year or two. Also, when it is removed, the painted surface it was bonded to must not be degraded. The painted surface will still need to look good after the nameplate is removed. We can not put any holes in the chassis to attach the nameplate. What type of adhesive would you recommend?

What happens during the 1 to 2 years between joining and disassembly? In what environment will this be? If all it needs to do is occupy spacetime and look nice, then a 3M tape and good paint will work. If there are more requirements, then things get more complicated.

Automotive stores carry emblem/molding tape that should do the trick. I am not sure if that is the same as what is posted above.
