In ASME VIII-1, 2-6, there is a provision for a bolt spacing correction factor Bsc to be applied to flange moment in the case of lethal service or when specified.

When calculating a bolted flat unstayed head (UG-34; according to Fig. UG-34 (j) or (k)) to close the flanged joint, there seems to be no such provision about bolt spacing.

[li]Is there a reason for not applying a Bsc in the case of bolted flat unstayed head?[/li]
[li]Is the flat unstayed head calc sufficiently conservative so that such correction is not needed?[/li]
