Hi All,

I have a question about the organizations available to forensic expert witnesses. Particularly computer forensics.

I have found general organizations online like but I'm unsure about the quality. Since these are pay services typically i don't want to get involved with something that isn't good quality.

Do you have any suggestions on the best communities, organizations and services for expert witnesses?

Thanks,

Dave

Try registering with the Defense Reasearch Institute (No, it is not a Pentagon think tank, but a defense lawyer's group for insurance and property/casaulty losses). They're at . It's free to register.

Registering with any referal service is ok to find potential work. Watch out for the fee for registration as well as the pay to join "associations". The only real credential in the forensic area is the National Acadamy of Forensic Engineers. This group is afiliated with the National Society of Professional Engineers and requires verified experience, credentials, associations and continuing education.

The courts are looking harder at expert witnesses and lawyers do not want to hire experts who can not qualify. Also states are starting to take the position that to testify about engineering is to practice engineering and you will need a license in that state.
