I have Staad.Pro 2003 Build 1003 us 1003 (i believe latest version. My maintenance has run out so REI will not answer even the most basic questions. That is the reason for this post.

I have to fundemental questions:

1. When ever I open a file the units are set to inches. I change it to feet and save the file. The next time I open the file it back to inches. How can I have the default set to feet?

2. I display the node and beam labels. When I do an analysis the label disappear and I have to right click, labels and check the node and beam boxes. This is annoying

If anyone has a solution I would greatly appreciate it.

To change node and beam lables to always be on. do the following:

1) Right click and choose Labels
2) At the bottom, choose "Always USe Current Label Settings"

This will respect whatever labels you have on no matter what mode you are in. The way STAAD works is that the labels (by default) follow the pages. You go to the properties page and the prop labels go on.

For your first question, do you mean the graphical (display) units or your input units?

Thanks.

Display units.

To set the display units to feet do the following.
1. In structure toolbar click "change display unit".
2. options dialog opens.
3. click on "Structure Units" and select ft for Dimension.
4. Click on Apply button and OK button.

Alternatively

1. select view and choose options from the drop down menu.
2. select Structure Units
3. select ft for dimension
4. click on Apply button and OK buttons

Now the units are set to ft.
