I am investigating the use of ASCE 7 Chapter 19, which seems like a way of approximating Soil Structure Interaction (SSI) without including it in the Building Model. If this chapter is implimented it could reduce the lateral loads for design and drift.
I have used modal analysis procedures for my project. I have looked and can not find any restriction in using the reduction along with the reduction for Modal Analysis or Site specfic analysis.
I am working my way through the chapter but have reached point where it seems i need shear wave velocity data to get the effective buidling period (Eqn 19.2.1.1) Also procedures to get the values Ky and K-theta are not explicitly given and i am not sure which direction to go for those.
If anyone can offer some advice or tips on implementing this chapter i would greatly appreciate it.
