When calculating the seismic accelerations per ASCE 7, the g value I should be multiplying my dead weight by are the values calculated from equations 11.4-3 and 4, right? I just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly. There are some sections in chapter 11 after this regarding importance factor and seismic design category. I'm assuming that stuff is used for connection design.

It depends on...

If you are using the Equivalent Lateral Force Method, it would be one of the results of equations 12.8-2 thru 12.8-6 for the value Cs, the value you would be seeking.

If you are using the Simplified Method, then you need to refer to the equation in 12.14-11 where the factor you are looking for is F*Sds/R.

Higher order methods are totally different.
