We have an existing flare header system designed long time ago. Recently we have discovered the gas flow in the emergency discharge case exceeds the recommended limit 0.5 Mach in header and 0.7 Mach in the tail pipes which connect to the PSVs. Since we don't plan to change the size of the pipes, we would like to determine the forces and moments applied by the emergency discharge and would further determine the stress level on the piping. Anyone with such experience please provide feedback regarding the methods of the analysis, the available softwares and even the consulting firms which can provide the services.

In API RP 520 Part 2 Para. 2.4.2 there is an statement pretty close to the work we would like to do.
