I am trying to manufacture a hallow GRP sphere and I am looking for the most efficient method to make the plug for this. The end product needs to be 4m in diameter so rather large.

I know radomes are often spherical and I have found loads of fibreglass companies online who specialise in the manufacture of spheres for various applications... but HOW DO THEY DO IT ?

All Suggestions and ideas welcome !

Best regards,

BEN.

What precision do you need? I would say that in most cases such a plug will be made from wood and plaster to make two halves of a sphere. The master would be a male and an intermediate female production mold made from gel-coated fiberglass will allow for the tool surface to be on the outside of the sphere.
