I design commercial carpet cleaning equipment. I recently changed to a more heavy duty belt driven 12v electric mobile clutch. The clutch has one double row angular contact bearing with a rather large chamfer on the outer race. When the clutch is engaged the bearing inner and outer spin together as one @1500RPM. These bearings are quickly becoming too loud for customers to bare due to false brinelling. The bearings are pressed into the clutch then are staked (small punch indentations) around the edges. It appears as though this staking is pressing in on the outer race and due to the large chamfer, pinching one end of the bearing.
My question is will this alter the bearing pre-load and make it more susceptible to false brinelling?

You have to eliminate the possibility of _real_ Brinelling, e.g. from the assembly press tool not being relieved to clear the inner race, or of using the inner race and balls _as_ the assembly press tool.
