I am new to the field of vibration testing and this may or may not be a trivial question. Please be gentle.

I've recently carried out some vibration tests on an optical table. The results from the accelerometer are given in m/s/s at a known frequency. How can I convert this to a displacement so I can get a handle on the magnitudes involved?

I've talked with an associate about this and he offered the following:

You have a known frequency (Hz) which must be converted to radians/second (multiply frequency by 2*pi). Next, divide your acceleration by your new constant (rad/sec) to get the velocity. Divide again and you get displacement.

Alternatively, you could get ahold of an analysis package like Matlab and have it do the conversion. I've used Matlab before, but not much with the signal analysis toolbox.

Good luck,
Tony

Tony,

Cheers, thats exactly what I was looking for. I shall go away now and carry on with the testing.
