Ammonium Bisulphate Elimination

I have a Flue Gas Desulpurization facility for the flue gas and anticipating ammonium Bisulphate formation due to various reasons.

Could anyone help me the following.

1.Are there any proven methods to remove Ammonium Bisuphate other than washing.

2. Are there any proven methods to elminate ammonia once produced in the stream

3. and finally is there a method to eliminate production of ammonia itself

I'll assume we deal with SCR related issues

1) Reheat as much as you can 300-350°C (At least, the higher the better, but stay below 450°C). ammonium bisulfate will volatilize.
may be feasible without a unit shutdown

Blowing or use industrial Vacuum aspiration
requires shutdown


Of course, if your catalyst (I assume you have SCR) is loaded or poisoned with low melting salts (lead, zinc, mixed ammonium lead zinc salts ; well any low melting eutectic of salt) this can make the situation worse. Such salts would be quite common in incineration, not so much with power plants.

2) some have tried, with mixed blessing a very fine mesh that captures the fine aerosol and protects the catalyst. I do not see this as very industrial.

3) not that I know of.
