Hi there,

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction in regards to materials used for sealing.
We are designing a check valve that is in need of a pressure tight seal. The combination of PEEK seat with a 4140 piston has failed us at temperature so I was looking into alternative metal materials.

Pre load on check valve: 500-4000psi.
Max pressure: 10,000psi
Temperature: 150deg C.

After selecting our materials we will look into our design, at the moment it is a round bull nosed piston with an angled PEEK seat.

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers,
KM

Try posting in valve forum with further details/drawing of valve and flow. Failing of seal might be caused by cavitation or incorrect use or operation of the valve, wrong size or instalment, as well as wrong material for the sealing for temperature and fluid.
