We have a product made of Isoplast 2530 (a TPU) that is sterilized by e-beam. We want a shelf life of the product of 3 years after sterilization. Dow (manufacturer of Isoplast) does not provide any long term data of irradiated Isoplast. Do someone have experience of information of Isoplast aging after irradiation?

Thanks in advance,

/Thomas

McTyta,

A few variables exist in doing an aging study.

- Packaging
- Part design
- Processing Parameters
- Other components within the package

Therefore, you should really be doing your own aging study for your particualar component or device. This way you will be able to validate your product. I know of a company in Northbrook, IL (a suburb of Chicago) that can do your aging study. It is called Northview Labs. I have worked with this company and they are very good.
