I am trying to model an AEP class C floating tube sheet single-pass exchanger with bolted-cover type front and rear channels. The design is a replacement unit. The original was designed in the '70's, and had the tube-side outlet in the bolted cover of the rear channel.
I believe the answer is 'no', but I'll ask anyway: Is the described design possible to model in Compress with the exchanger module? It seems that I cannot choose the bolted-type rear channel in this exchanger config. I seem to have come across a bug where, if i enter most (or all) of the design data, and move 'back' and 'forth' in the process selecting options as below, I can choose a bolted cover and make Compress lock up TIGHT!
The method:
1. Enter all design data but don't click 'finish'
2. Back out to the beginning and choose the 'fixed tube sheet' option
3. Move forward, choose a bolted-type rear channel
4. Back out to the beginning and choose 'floating tube sheet'
5. Now the option for a bolted-type rear channel appears, but is indented to imply an absent parent design option under which a welded cover option appears along with the bolted one. Keep the bolted option selected, continue through the series of inputs and click 'finish'.
Voila...locked. It seems I'll just have to hand calc. the config. of the original. No big deal, but I wanted to bring it to the attention of others as I'm pretty new to using the exchanger module of Compress. That being said, if I'm doing something wrong in this very vague and general methodology, please tell me.
Thanks gents!
Marc
