I have extruded a flat plane into the side of a cylinder in Ideas and I would like to join the two together. In addition I would like the portion of the flat plane that is inside the cylinder deleted so that the edge of the plane becomes the circumference of the cylinder. How do I do this? I have played round with the extrude commands and I can’t get this to work.

What version of I-deas? If 11 or higher, there should be a pulldown to Join the Extrusion with selectable geometry.

This is called a Boolean operation and most softwares call it a Unite or Union rather than Join. There are 2 other Booleans, Subtract and Intersect. All 3 are quite common when creating Revolutions and Extrusions as well as other Swept bodies.
