Abuqus non-uniform uniform strain

I have tried a simple problem on Abaqus to see where I was going wrong. I'm solving a quasi-static problem. The free end was attached to a rigid plate with the middle node tied to the reference point of the rigid body. I expected stress and strain across the beam to be uniform since I only applied a load in the z-direction. The stress did turn out to be uniform but the strain is acting peculiar. Any guidance would be appreciated.
