Clean Energy Finance Corporation say that in order to meet the 2030 target of 82% renewable we need to spend more than $120 B, to replace approximately 8 GW of fossil fuelled power stations. So their estimate suggests 1 GW of baseload (about a $2B powerplant) will need 4GW or $15B of renewables. This is about half my estimate was, because I included batteries to ensure 24/7 power. They don't mention batteries. They also say building new transmission lines will cost $20B.

Alternatively of course we could build 8 GW of nuclear and site them at the current power stations, saving $20B in ugly transmission lines, and $40B in capital.
