    Datum callout question

Thanks for all comments, Burunduk, 3DDave and mfgenggear. Please ref to the figure below for details, both callouts are legal, but what are the differences between these two callouts (with and without the datum feature qualifying FCF)? Thanks again for your help. Season

    Datum callout question

I have some questions about this print, and I tried to make some changes as shown below. The reasons for making these changes are: The common datum(A-B) is constructed after the individual feature is designated as the datum feature. The existing DRF refers to the datum feature itself, normally...

    Unilateral composite profile problem

pmarc At para 11.6.1.1 in Y14.5-2018 clearly states irregular shaped feature, a round hole in this example is just a regular FOS. There is an all around symbol used in the example of Figure 11-24, according to the para 3.44, this is a pattern features, a single hole is not a pattern. I...

    Unilateral composite profile problem

pmarc I cannot find any example of composite profile callout applied on a single round hole from the standard, all examples with composite profile tolerance callout are irregular FOS or pattern features. We can see this word “PLTZE” very often from standard, which means the top segment...

    Unilateral composite profile problem

I think composite profile tolerance can only be applied to an irregular feature of size or pattern of features, the round hole in this example is just a regular FOS, and that’s why I think composite profile tolerance is not a proper callout here. Season

ISO GPS - Position & Profile of a Surface

What you said is absolutely right. We are talking about the legitimacy of the location tolerance on an integral surfaces, whether it meets the requirements of the ISO standards. On this particular case, position is allowed to use on the planar features only.

ISO GPS - Position & Profile of a Surface

The use of the position symbol is allowed according to ISO 1101, but only for planar features. Both position and profile callout indicate the location of planar feature.

When a surface flatness has been specified, the DMP flatness is inherently also controlled (ASME)?

ISO GPS - Line profile for a spine of a bent rod?

Burunduk This is indeed a good question for people with an ASME background, I hadn't noticed that before. Just providing some of the relevant content of the standard, and I am also looking forward to further interpretation as mentioned by greenimi.

    datum? i am unsure

That's an earlier version. Edit : please note the datum feature reference is placed on the 2nd compartment on that time.

    Self-referencing or not

I would choose this callout. Season

Is this the right way to measure the profile ?

Thanks for the suggestion, we can try it later. Thanks Season
