Thank you for the tip, I will contact our supplier and see what they can provide.

That is an interesting method. I will look into it further. Our current seal is applied in a similar manner, but that seal adheres to everything (both mating pieces) and rips apart when the...
I am updating a product made from molded plastic components. Currently the product is IPx2 and it needs to become IPx4.
Please, bear with my explanation, I will not be able to post any images or parts of what I am working with.
The product has a front half, a rear half, and a middle portion...
You are correct that the center of gravity lowers, but measuring that distance is not possible.
The acceleration is not constant, but I do have the acceleration profile over time. This is a one shot test. The setup has to survive once to "pass"...
Does the accelerometer data (6g's) take in...
I need some help converting a load. Right now I have a dynamic load. I have mass=76.5 kg, acceleration=6g's (58.8 m/s^2) and time=0.667 s. The load is out on a cantilever and is being subjected to an impulse (there is no impact).
The setup is similar to someone on a diving board, quickly...
I tried the rename in solidworks explorer, and had the same issue. I changed the assembly name from assembly.sldasm to newassembly.sldasm. The equation still reads D1@sketch1@assembly.sldasm.
I used forced rebuild on the top level assembly, sub-assembly, and a part just to make sure.
It...
I am working with an assembly (SW 09 SP 5.0). I have the main assembly and 3 sub assemblies. Each of the sub assemblies can be sized using the same dimension. I have used some equations to reference part dimensions to a sketch in the top level assembly.
I got the master copy to work...
I saved the assembly as a copy
I second using pack and go.
You can edit the part, but cannot create any external references to the components of the current assembly."
Correct. You won't be able to add external refs to the current parts until all the old external refs are gone.
"break all"...
For companies that have a fairly standard product with a multitude of variations smart part numbering seems to be the way to go.
Companies with few or unrelated products seem to work well with dumb numbers.
As someone above said you want all of your numbers to match. SW models=MRP...
We upgraded to SW 2009 SP 2.0 and I'm still having this problem.
It's not consistent however. Some people can rebuild and have the parts update correctly while others cannot. I'm still missing the option(s) that cause the assembly to work correctly.
Any suggestions?
There is a little pop-up menu bound to the "s" key. I'd like to assign the menu to a different key but can't find it in the keyboard shortcut area.
Is this possible, what is the menu called? I tried looking for what "s" is assigned to but came up with nothing.
Right now it's setup where there is a sketch on the assembly level driving part1, part2 is always 2" shorter. part2 has a part level sketch that is 2" offset from the first assembly level drawing. The hole pattern is based on the length of part2.
I've also tried having a sketch on the...
Yes that is correct. No, but I'm unsure how to reverse it.
I tried that and ended up the incorrect size part still.
Yes, but the overall length of the part is assembly defined, and that won't update correctly.
I'm using the derived flat pattern.
If I could pass assembly information...
SW 2008 SP 5.0
The CNC program opens the part, inserts the 1:1 scale flat on the "drawing" template, then imports that information.
The problem isn't with the CNC program. The flat in SW won't update correctly. If I linked the DXF to the part I would likely never get correct CNC information...
I'm having trouble with sheet metal flat pattern parts not displaying correctly in my drawing sheets.
The Setup:
I've got some parts with a hole pattern controlled by an equation. If I open the drawing first I get a correct formed view but the hole spacing is incorrect on the flat pattern...
To get your sheet to show up as an option for the 2nd sheet, 3rd sheet... take the *.drwdot make a copy and rename the extension to .slddrt.
There's a limitation to what will carry over. Only things in the sheet format will copy. No drawing views, or notes will show up.
That's where I am now. I've set 12 isometric style views named after the different customer ordered configurations. I'm looking for the convenience of having the view update when the engineer enters in all the other data for the product.
