    Title block sizes on A1, A2, A3

thanks for that, do you have a view on printing A1 on A3 paper?

    Title block sizes on A1, A2, A3

Hi I am currently redesigning our title blocks in line with BS8888, and have an interesting problem, which if possible I would like advice on. BS 8888 dictates that you use one common size title block across all three sheet sizes (180mm wide) which in itself is not a problem, but we commonly...

SLC and CLI exports from NX

Does anyone know anything about exporting to SLC and CLI formats, and will they ever be available to export from NX? My understanding is that it slices a solid model ready for 3D printing. Rhino appear to be doing some work on this, but from looking around I can't see that any of the main CAD...

    NX9 Dimensioning

Now I like that. I also like the Dimension break command, just a shame it isn't in NX9, as we now wont upgrade again for another three years.

    Why Direct Sketch?

what I would really like to know is, what is the Siemens view on what we should be using? I train new users and currently ignore Direct Sketch, as it just adds another level of confusion. A lot of the upgrade to NX9 training material references Direct Sketch, which suggests that it is being pushed.

    Why Direct Sketch?

Hi I am still unsure by the use of "Direct Sketch", over "Sketch in Task Environment", so if someone could explain why we have two methods I would be very appreciative? Personally I find it far cleaner using the Environment method, but worry that one day it will be taken away. Regards Martyn

    NX9 Dimensioning

Would be nice if someone from Siemens came in on this thread to help us understand what the thinking is behind this new set of functions, and if they are going to listen to us. talking to users from other companies, it's the same set of comments, "much more work to add dimensions", "less...

    NX9 Dimensioning

This must be an oversight, as MB2 is universal in NX for progressing commands.

    Insert Text from file

Hi Recently discovered that in NX9.03 running through Teamcenter, the Insert text from file function in the Note command does not work. We add in standard Material and Finishing process notes to all of our drawings, so this is a key function for us, as I imagine it is for a lot of other users...

    NX9 Dimensioning

It is hard to appreciate unless you actually have a go with it, but basically all aspects of the dimension have nodes that can be selected, which then invoke editing dialogs. Even the selecting can be a bit of a fiddle, and no where near as clean as the old MB3 options. Also annoying is that I...

    NX9 Dimensioning

Thanks for the insight, and I am sure that I will be adding another 400 to the list of disgruntled users, which begs the questions how has it got this far. Even more annoying is that although a few options remain on MB3, the ones we will mostly use have gone. Can they be put back in?

    NX9 Dimensioning

Hi all I have been using NX for 15 years, and are heavily involved in training new users, and rolling out new versions. Up to NX7.5 adding dimensions although not perfect, was at least a simple process, with MB3 allowing access to 95% of all the editing that was ever required by us. Indeed my...

    Hole calout symbols

I have just downloaded BS 8888 2013 and the symbols are now specified for use.

    Hole calout symbols

Hi We currently work to BS8888, and previously BS308, and I would like to know if there is anywhere that specifies the use of Hole Callout symbols, in preference to the tradition annotation (CSK, C/BORE, etc)? These symbols are readily available in most CAD packages, but I don not want to use...

    NX/Teamcenter Refile

As a company we have been using Teamcenter and NX for 20 years, but have never done any sort of refile. Is this something that we should be looking at, and what benefits are we likely to see in the way of performance, and/or extra functionality? If we dont refile are we likely to see serious...
