Thanks David. I think I figured it out. They made a mistake and changed the original 4160V PT's from a 2 PT Open Delta connection to a 3 PT Wye grounded set.
I am wondering it someone makes a Synchroscope that can be connected to the high and low sides of a Unit Connected Generator. Unit Connected =(Generator is hard wired to the Low-voltage side of the GSU with the Generator Breaker on the High-side of the GSU). The owner would like a Synchroscope...
I have a customer that has a Selectron PMC 22 see attached picture. I had seen an previous post that indicated there are some people in Eng-Tips that have experience with this unit. The green Run LED is blinking and indicates a problem and that the PLC is not running. I know about many other...
I know I am seeing this post very late. I can print out the PLC program in PDF format if you send me the progam file. Depending on the age of the program that file can have either a *.RSS or *.ACH or *.SLC file extention.
I was wondering if there were any old guys out there that had heard of or remembers when Baldor sold a DC drive that was actually manufacturered by Eurotherm/SSD. Apparently it was done in the 2000 to 2003 and it ultimatley was discontinued. Baldor arranged with Eurotherm/SSD to create a...
The local Utility has decided we need to change the highside voltage on our 1000KVA service transformer from 12.0kV to 13.2kV. The configuration is Highside Y to Lowside Y with the low side being 480V. I was wondering if anyone has had experience in this area?
Additional data recently received from the manufacturer told us the Exciter AC Generator winding resistance, normalized to 95 deg C, should be 0.0057 ohms per phase. We checked and our impedance was 0.0018 ohms per phase, normalized to 95 deg C.
I believe we have found the problem. I removed the fuses on the diode wheel which basically removed the load from the Exciter AC Generator. I attached a 120Vac Light Bulb across the Exciter AC Generator phase A to Phase B and made it easliy viewable from the end of the machine. We ran the...
Thanks rmw,
Yes the Generator is rated for 60Hz and has all the manufacturers nameplates for the 3600rpm ratings. We have all the factory tests for both 50 and 60Hz ratings. It is not a Brush generator it is a Meidan Unit from Meidansha Electric out of Japan. We are using a Brush A30 AVR...
Hi VitorMT,
I am a PE in Oregon. I would suggest you continue forward with your career path torward a PE. In Oregon that means you need to sit for the EIT or FET exam.(Engineer in Training) It is an 8 hour exam covering all areas of engineering. (mechanical, civil, strengh of materials etc)...
Well today we tried running again with the field poles changed. I was able to get a compass and we now do have N S N S around the outside and when we swap the DC wires it does change to S N S N. However when we run we still get no build up of voltage. The other thing that bothers me is that we...
thanks gentlemen. the unit was running in Pakistan a year ago. It was moved to Venezuela and changed from 50hz to 60hz operation. The Generator is rated for both. However the change from 50Hz to 60Hz involves removing the gearbox between the Turbine and Generator so that the Generator now spins...
I have a 45MW 13.8Kv 60HZ Generator with a Brushless Excitation system on it. The Generator is a 3600 rpm two pole machine. There is a PMG (Permanent Magnet Generator) mounted on the end of the Brushless Exciter that puts out 292Vac at 240HZ to a Brush Prismic A30 Automatic Voltage Regulator...
Here is another picture. I am not sure how to load more than picture at a time.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=805acd1a-847a-41fa-a3e9-89f933ee525f&file=Center_HV_1_Copy.JPG
We have a 1970 Vintage GE Steam Turbine 13.8kV, 35MW Hydrogen Cooled unit. During an inspection we discovered that most of the epoxy had leaked or melted or something out of the Bushing containment cone. I am wondering whether anyone out there has seen this before. I have worked for GE in my...
Hi rmw,
Would that be Jeff Canon. I believe he is the President and CEO of ProEnergy Services.
ScottyUK,
1974 was the year I was working in Salem designing and building Mark II Speedtronics panels. Amazing the stuff is still around.
rmw
Actually I think you mean you worked on a Mark I Speedtronics just after dirt was invented (haha). I worked on the Mark I and II so many years ago in Salem Ronoake, VA.
There is a company that helps to rebuild Gas Turbines and provide parts for them. It is ProEnergy Services out of Sedalia, MO. They also done quite a bit of work in Venezuela. I know they have done GE LM6000, LM2500, Frame 7000, Frame 5000. There are many models and years of GE Gas Turbines I...
Hi amper,
There is not much information about what you really want. What kind of turbine do you have. What vintage or year? What type of unit condensing, extraction. What kind of spares are you looking for.
