    MACHINEABLE OR NO?

Can you just change the design and remove the sharp edges? Seems straight forward

    HOW ARE THESE MADE

Much depends on the material. Do you know the material? It appears to be machined, then bent. You may have to go with .312 od. Contact a bender, This will be the tough part. Machining should be straight forward unless you cave to stick with a crazy cost goal.

Source for backup rings for face seal application

WHat type of pressures are you dealing with? Most of these have a zero gap, but also load up under pressure which works in your favor since it forces the gap closed.

Monel k500 in 120ksi min yield strength

The main priority is corrosion resistance. The elastic modulus must be as high as possible, so titanium is out. Since we are trying to stay withing the Nace mr0175 as much as possible, most of the PH stuff is out. Since the part has ebwelding and will be a part that we want to last a very long...

Monel k500 in 120ksi min yield strength

Ed, If I wanted to get the Yield up, could it be annealed, then aged again? My main problem right now is finding a source for the higher strength condition. Everyone stocks the lower strength. I have another question that I just noticed. MonelK500 has more nickel than inconel 718 ,but it easier...

Monel k500 in 120ksi min yield strength

Years ago, We had k500monel that had yield strengths in the 130ksi range. I am discovering that most k500 that is available is 95ksi-110ksi. Im thinking we must have had a mill run of the higher strength material where I used to work. Does anyone know if monel k500 with yield strengths around...

    collapse pressure for housings/tubing

Ive been designing stainless, inconel and steel housings for years up to 15-000 to 30,000 psi external pressure @ 350F or more degrees. I have always used the API 5C Yield strength collapse formula and this formula has always been spot on. I havent worked with titanium other than a few small...

Torque wrench for shear pin testing

Well, I lucked out. I was able to set up a fixture using an old ball screw so the test would be centered to reduce side load. I purchased several different material .125 dowels from mcmaster. I will have to dig further to determine the exact materials since they dont publish the info. Even the...

    DMLS inconel718 part questions

thanks tb...I am going to get in touch with someone at one of these DMLS services and see if I can get more info. I considered this for one prototype part due to lead time, and we can still test while waiting on the edm shop. To be honest, I didnt even know that inconel and 17-4 could be built...

Torque wrench for shear pin testing

tbue...yes, I was concerned about the pin not shearing clean and potentially galling the parts together. I may need to redesign this coupling. I may want to look research different ways that a shear pin in this configuration (torque) are used. I made plenty of shear pins, but mostly in an axial...

    DMLS inconel718 part questions

KENAT, The material spec had an AS BUILT that looked ok except the elastic modulus was blank but still had a yield strength of 95ksi unless I am reading it wrong. Then has a AMS5662 and 5664 solution anneal and age hardening that has specs that are similar to bar stock. I have to find out if...

Torque wrench for shear pin testing

The higher accuracy beam type is twice as much as this dial type. Link This one has a max torque pointer. A videa camera is a good idea. I suppose if I ease into it and do multiple tests, I could make this work. Did my torque/force on the pin numbers look ok? My luck, since 416SS dowel strength...

    DMLS inconel718 part questions

Im thinking of having a part made since the EDM shop is backed up. Is there any reason that I couldnt use this part on a downhole tool with temps of 350F at 15k psi? Its not a pressure vessel. I know the temp should be fine. I am concerned about the corrosion if there are microscopic voids in...

Torque wrench for shear pin testing

Man, I just noticed that torque wrench has 50in-lbs graduations. That may not be enough resolution. They begin to get expensive for more resolution, but we will see.

Torque wrench for shear pin testing

I always like to test everything if possible. I have a design where I want a pin to shear once a given amount of torque is applied to the shaft. I want the .125 pin to shear when the torque is 120in-lb. I will have to find the correct material to use for the pin because I had to pick a size for...

save pdf line thicknesses the same sworks 2014

I just installed 2014 SP4. I noticed when I save a drg to a pdf, the line thicknesses are the same even though I have thin lines set to .006 and normal set to .015. The section lines are coming out thicker (thick set to .017). Anyone encountered this?

    acme thread class C question

I was going to buy the nut initially, but it was too short and the bronze temp rating was to 250F, where I need 350F. I may be forced to go with a .625-8p. Thought my biggest hurdle was going to be the class C Acme, but now it seems the small size and large pitch it a tough one. Im sure it will...

    acme thread class C question

I posted this in the Industrial section, but didn't get any hits. My problem has deepened somewhat since yesterday. I need to machine a .50-8 acme (class C centralizing) into a part. The standard acme 8p insert can only machine a .8" min od. Has anyone machine something acme this size that would...

    Centralizing ACME thread?

I am designing a drive screw and nut for a new tool. I am familiar with standard acme threads, but after researching lead screws, they use a class C or centralizing acme. From reading the handbook, it seems that the major dia's are different than the class G acme. I cant find inserts for a class...
