We used to do this with family tables, but our company doesn't use family tables.

The new company I am working for uses the part numbers as the CAD file name. The description is locked in Windchill and is sometimes not very descriptive.

I found the solution.
For whatever reason... the new company I am at has this configuration setting set to "NO" as default.
The team here is new to Creo so they probably didn't recognize that something was out of place having never known otherwise. Happy ending :)
I have attached a screenshot of a simply cylinder to illustrate the problem.
