    Unilateral tolerances-why?

I always ask our purchasers to put a note on the PO to any shops that we send 3d models to that states that the prints are the controlling documents and that is what the final parts will be inspected against. There have been times when the 3d model was the controlling document, normally for 3D...

    Select parts of subassemblies

Do you need to open the part file to rename it? I ran into a similar issue, not renaming though, and it turned out that I needed to open the file in order to make the change.

Trying to simulate friction contact of two parts

Do you have any force(s) pushing the two parts together?

Image of assembly component in userform macro vba

Can you just select the part and save a screenshot somewhere that you then insert into your picturebox, all using code? You might also be able to save the screen as a jpeg in SW.

    Issue in Running the jobs

Are you sure you are not trying to use more tokens than you have available? That has bitten me a couple times. It will just sit there with no warning or errors.

calculating the mass & volume of section of a part/assembly model in solidworks

Possibly saving the cut assembly as a STEP file then opening it up in SW will give you what you want. You will have to set the materials though.

    Composite tolerance question

Not knowing the application maybe this is not a reasonable question but here it is: Could you swap A&B in your PLTZF, then you could keep B in the FRTZF. Or even add A to you FRTZF, though this might be a little more than you really want/need.

calculating the mass & volume of section of a part/assembly model in solidworks

Yes, the options are limited but you can add those as assembly features.

    Scientific Calculator

I am going to intrepret 'modern' to mean more modern than the one that you are replacing. I would be lost using anything other than my HP-48GX.

calculating the mass & volume of section of a part/assembly model in solidworks

One way you could do it is to create a cutting feature (i.e. extruded or revolve cut) in the assembly that is shaped so that it cuts out everything that you don't want. Then the mass properties will give you the info for what is left.

Modeling clamping effect in SolidWorks FEA

Method #1 seems like a good start. Have you done any hand calculations to see if that 60microns is reasonable?

ISO standard - A parallelism of a plane to an axis

I don't think just adding B will do anything. Position is probably better but I think you can change this to angularity and then use A&C, or if you are more interested in the udim'd other slot you can use that instead of C

DATUM REF 5 DEGREES OF FREDOM

Are you asking about creating a custom DRF? Like something shown in fig 4-46 of 14.5 2009?

    Equilibrium check

For question #1 & #2: Here is a link that goes through a basic description, https://simulation-blog.technia.com/simulation/implicit-vs-explicit-finite-element-analysis. The help file has more detail.

Best way to mesh rocket fin in Abaqus

This might be moot if you go with shells but you can also partition it into smaller, more regularly shaped areas/volumes that will mesh better. That will definitely help.

Positional Tolerance of Internal Triangle Tangent Cylinder

Sorry if this is dumb but couldn't this be handled with datum targets located at the contacts?

Parallelism + Square on the slot?

I agree with 3DDave, I think profile of a surface is the way to go. Here is a link that is kind of similar to your case, minus the per area: https://www.tec-ease.com/gdt-tips-view.php?q=143

    Calculation Presentation/Formatting

For those that want better looking equations that you can show either symbols, cells, or values I've been using fxrender for a few years. It isn't the most stable add-in but it works well.

    Convergence issue

You also might want to look at making the mesh of one of the parts in the contacting area finer than the other. If they are the same material I don't think it'll matter which you pick but if they are different materials then put a finer mesh on the less stiff material.

    Music wire over time

Hello, I am trying to find information about whether music wire loses its tension over time. The diameter will be ~.030" and tension would not be terribly large, similar to what is used when they are actually in a piano (~50-75lb total force). But because of the application, some vibe and...
