Which Software is better for tank design?

We switched from ETank to ITS Design some time ago and have been happy with the program and the support. ITS has automatic frequent internet updates and new features are added regularly. Also has AWWA design.

    Parent and Child relation

You might investigate iMap for Inventor technology preview at http://labs.autodesk.com and see if this provides the functionality you are looking for. I have not used so cannot verify.

    Vista64?

I was anticipating problems based on our previous conversation. I installed normally. The only problem I had initially was recognizing the key and hasp driver. Once I used a USB port on the PC instead of the monitor everything seemed to install correctly. I did not have to use any compatibility...

    Vista64?

We are experimenting with Vista 64 bit for our MCAD program. My understanding is that Vista 64 is not officially supported by Codeware. I was curious to see if anyone else was using Vista64 and what their Compress experience was. So far it seems to work except for the cover page graphic. Have...

    Bolting for Lug Design

This has been on our wish list for years as well. This would be a time saving feature that can hopefully be implemented this decade.

    Compress - Wind inputs

My understanding from several years ago, (possibly misunderstanding), was that only platforms were automatically included in wind load and ladders were not. Ladders are definetly now automatically included?

Horizontal and Vertical reversed when sketching on work planes

One of the easiest ways to center a rectangle about the origin is to draw a diagonal construction line from corner to corner and then use a coincident constraint from the midpoint of the construction line to the origin.

    Flat pattern in IV 2008

You may want to search the Inventor forum on Autodesk for this topic. Also you might want to look at a a trial version of AutoPOL or SPI- sheetmetal add-in for Inventor.

    "unfolding" ellipsoidal surface sections

You mentioned you also had SW, you might look at Logopress3 for unfolding double curved surfaces http://www.logopress3.com/en/ Also possibly exporting from Inventor into a trial version of Rhino and trying the "smash" command, although may not be accurate enough. http://rhino3d.com/

    Graphics card for home computer

I have run the past several versions of SW on XP home and noticed no significant difference in performance between 2007 vs 2006 or earlier.

Saving Autocad LT 2007 file on server

It has been awhile, but I think we have had occasional similar errors thru the years saving to our linux file server where the acad file lock did not release properly. If it only affects one drawing you might try to "SAVE AS" and slightly change the file name, i.e. add a -1 to the filename. If...

    API 650 Tank software

ITS Design has been updated to Add 4 for sometime. We also have ETank which has not been updated yet. None of the API programs are as complete as Compress and may only have 1 programmer working part time on them. You can see info on ITSDesign at the link below: www.innovativetanksolution.com

    INTELLICAD VS AUTOCAD

We have AutoCAD Mechanical 2007, AutoCAD LT 2007, SolidWorks 2007, Intellicad and Inventor 11 and just let our subscription drop on Alibre. I would recommend AutoCAD LT vs. Intellicad or the lower cost alternatives based on our experience for strictly 2d work. Ironically we still need...

    Class 150 Manway Lock?

SnTMan, First request I have had for something like this. Actually the last time as I was at this plant it had some of the tightest security I had seen. Difficult enough for their own employees to get in, let alone visitors. jte, We had thought of the stud, (or PV grade bolting w/padlock on...

    Class 150 Manway Lock?

Dugal, Lock to prevent unauthorized access. Understand outdated terminology, after 25 years old habits hard to break. The majority of our customers still use the term "manway", typically our drawings match customer nomenclature. This is probably one example where they should be corrected. A...

    Class 150 Manway Lock?

We have a customer requesting manway locks for a previously fabricated pressure vessel. Anyone aware of "off the shelf" Manway locks for fabricated manways from class 150 RFSO and Blind flanges? I can think of ways a lock clip could be fabricated or perhaps modify a bolt. However curious to...

    Support C.A. ?

Hopefully Compress will eventually add this feature as this becomes more difficult with I-Beam sections. ie by the time you add c.a. to both the web and flange it may double the section weight, where a less expensive section (#/ft) would work. It becomes an iterative process more suited for the...
