I am struggling to design the flange with 130 barg pressure. MOC is SA 182 F51. Bolt material is SA 320 L7M. Gasket material SDS SPW. Design code is ASME VIII div 2
If I provide sufficient number bolts, bolt spacing is less than recommended. I tried with various bolt sizes ranging from 1 " to...
Client commented to design the saddle support to resist a blast load of 35 KPa. I checked over the internet how to deal with. Somewhere i found that this can be added as wind pressure. I performed this calculations in Pv Elite and I found the stresses 2 times the allowable. We already constucted...
I have done many heat ex-changer where there is no corrosion allowance specified by client even if the material is CS . This is also supported by API 660. I would like to why there is corrosion allowance required for tubes.
The note no T8 of Table 1A of ASME II Part D mentions "Allowable stresses for temperatures of 750F and above are values obtained from time dependent properties". How this will affect the vessel design?
The radial force and circumferential force of nozzle induce bending moment on legs. The longitudinal force induce compressive or tensile effect on leg.
I am not sure about the effect on leg of the longitudinal moment,Circumferential moment and torsional moment.
I have some where read or heard...
In a project client commented that the lugged vessel to be provide with tailing lug. I have not seen this before in a legged vessel. Can any body guide, how to check leg integrity while lifdting the vessel
We outsourced the structural design of skid . It has 6 supports with base plate which will be attached to foundation with anchor bolts. He has considered the joint as pinned at support. I do not understand why he has considered pinned. According to me , it should be fixed as rotational moment is...
My concern was about the heat treatment condition. As per 2.1.2(C) of NACE MR 01 03, carbon steels and low alloy steels are acceptable in any of the following conditions
i) hot rolled ii)annealed iii)normalized iv) normalized and tempered v)normalized, austenized, quenched and tempered
The SA...
I need to design a gas cooler. The gas is mixture of HC vapour , water vapour and non condensible gases. At the inlet all the components will be in gaseous state and at the outlet 1% of mass is condensed to water. Please refer to attached data sheet. I find it difficult to how to enter the...
