A bit of a strange question here...
I have achieved what I need through just ladder programming, but I wonder if there is a more elegant solution.
My project requires displaying both Liters and Gallons.
The setpoints must be able to be input in both Liters and Gallons.
But, if I change the...
So I have a simple rectangular tank.
I placed my Pressure load on the inside faces.
The non-uniform distribution would be something like this:
P = ro * g * h
h is the Y+
ro * g is the value I put in to the box.
My question is: Units
What units does Simulation use when solving this?
Based on...
I was watching a vid online showing some electrical routing in SW and at 1:00 in to the video, he saves his file and selects "Flatten Route" where he can then make a diagram of the electrical ribbon.

I am making a route with tubing, but...
I did a "Pack & Go" on my model a few weeks ago in order to generate drawings from an unchanging model. However, now that I am already a few weeks in, I have discovered that it didn't pack everything.
When I go to my top level assembly and do a "Find References" it is returning parts and...
I have a complex part that I broke up in to several pieces, did a "Save Bodies" and made it in to an assembly for detailing properly in my drawings.
However, when doing "Save Bodies" the part shows up with a common origin to the assembly, and it is all disoriented.
I have attached one of these...
IModelDoc2.GetTitle
When issued in drawings, it returns the sheet info:
ie. CW201AM - Sheet1
I want to rip just the filename:
CW201AM.slddrw -> CW201AM
I am making a macro to SaveAs PDF and don't want to have to go back through later and strip out all of the "useless" info.
I was thinking...
I have some sheet metal parts that I made by:
Extruding a block
Shelling the block
Split at the corners
Converted to Sheet Metal for each side
Jogged the upper part to create a zero clearance flange
But when I go to "Flatten" that particular piece, the jog remains.
Is there something I am...
I have a quanset with some components inside of it, I would like to show a cut-away section so that I can see the components inside, but I don't want the section to cut through the stuff I have inside.
Is there a way to do it without going in to each part and making a "Cut" feature?
ie...
The flyouts I'm talking about are like those in Weldments, the little grey boxes when you trim/extend:
[ Body 1,1: keep ]
When I click on one, they all jump to the other side of my model. Then I'm forced to pan around until I find them, and by that point I can't even see which tail goes to...
I have a Kingpin at the front.
I have my suspension at the back.
Road laws state that you can have an overhang off the back of 0.35*(distance from kingpin to wheelbase)
The suspension and kingpin have their dimensions driven by different components.
I want to make a plane with the proper offset...
I had a part (a Chute) that I derived in one of my assemblies. I accidentally grabbed the origin of the assembly when I was sketching so it created a Reference to "Point1@Origin of Assem1." I broke the reference so now the suffix is "-> x"
Funny thing about "Assem1" is that it is the default...
Since upgrading to 2011 I've been having some gremlins popping up in my top level assembly.
I have several configurations for my top level assembly with completely different parts. So the configurations are simply keeping track of suppression state. But it keeps unsuppressing the wrong...
I have design tables made for individual subs and parts. The tables work great when I am looking at just the individual parts.
But when I want to change the dimension in these tables, I have to find the part in my FeatureManager -> Open Part -> Config -> Edit Design Table
Then of course I can't...
I want to have SW automatically add properties and a design table to each new part/assembly. (materials, drawnby, description...)
I have been googling around trying to find example files for the syntax required.
Can someone post their properties.txt and a designtable.xls for what they use?
When I was in school, I took an FEA course for Pro/E because SW was not offered. They taught me all of the calculations that Pro/E was running, how to tweek the mesh etc.
So I have very little of that experience in SW.
Quick questions:
When I do FEA(Static) on a Weldment part, does it just...
The other day Solidworks stopped letting me show basically anything in my assemblies. (Sketches, Planes, Axes...)
I thought it was "large assembly mode" but that doesn't change it. I attached a small screenshot of the hide/show menu.
Additional:
I need to make a new sketch that uses some of...
