I've read in literature that immediately after quenching 6061 aluminum (when solution heat treating but before aging) the workpiece is soft and ductile. Is this true? Does that mean you can form it without concern of fracture?
Thanks

What happens when you try to deform aluminum while its at its annealing temperature? Are you able to form it without concern to fracture since the grains are recrystallizing?

When designing threaded parts that mate together, (for example a threaded bottle neck and a cap), are there generally gaps or spacing anywhere designed in to for tolerances? Or are the mating threads line to line? It seems like there should be some sort of gap but im not sure.
Thanks!
When designing threads for a plastic injection molded part, say a jar with threads at the top and its corresponding mating lid, is the threaded portion of either piece on a drafted surface? I know that you are supposed to add 1-2deg of draft to aid ejection from the mold in general but are the...
Does anyone know the manufacturing process of this bottle? I had thought it was just blow molded but then someone asked "how do they make the handle"? and suddenly i was stumped?
How would you make the hollow handle in a mold type process? Cant think of how to do it with either blow molding or...
