Does anyone have experience with the mfgPro230 xS SLS printer from XYZ or something similar? We're running one and I have an ever-growing list of complaints.
Does anyone have experience calculating stress/strain of a steel rope? A tightrope someone would be walking on is, from what I can tell on the web, 5/8" OD, with a 7x19 configuration, meaning 7 smaller braids of 19 strands each. The material is galvanized steel, details below:
Construction: 7x19...
Someone used a drawing view with certain faces shown in a specific color to indicate a masked surface in the powder coating process (e.g. the part is mostly grey and a couple of faces are green). I've never seen that done, and I know it isn't best practice, as someone could have a B&W printer...
I've been reading up on what kind of machine specs I'll need to efficiently do Simulation. I haven't done anything with it in a long time. A software engineer recommended the tower, but a vendor says the mobile workstation would do the trick. Specs attached for the tower. Here is a link to the...
I'm trying to figure out what the output died and torque of the motor below would be. I would think it's 6W x 30:1 great ratio at 60 RPM would be:
Torque (N.m) = P / [(2pi*RPM)/60] * Gear Ratio
= (6W / [2pi*60RPM/60]) * 30
= 28.5 NM
However, is the listed RPM the output RPM of the motor, or the...
Is there an AFFORDABLE, 2 bolt mount flange bearing, capable of withstanding 230 deg C?
60-70 RPM
2.3 N-m torque
Shaft diameter is negotiable
Low radial load (<2 lb)
No axial load
I have a beam bolted to the wall. If I load it on the end, and it bends down 2.5mm (815mm long) at the end, I would think that a force is created on the mounting bolts in reaction to the bending. Is that not accurate? If it is, how would I quantify it?
I have a vertical schedule 80 PVC pipe, 6" diameter, 36" long with a male threaded NPT end. McMaster 4687T73. I'm trying to find a bell reducer to get it down to 2" or at least 4" so that I can put a cheap as possible valve on it (app below) Is there any reason I can't find one?
Alternatively...
I'm trying to put lead shot into a 6" PVC pipe and cap it. If I put 300 lbs worth in, would the cap below hold it? It's ASTM D1784, which says that it's 280 psi rated. I would use the PVC cement. The items I'm looking at are from McMaster below.
PVC Pipe
Pipe Cap
Pipe Cement
I'm looking for something to hang off of the structure below. I need it to be loaded incrementally to 300 lbs. I am planning to use lead shot to weigh it, which would be a volume of about 3 gallons.
I can't find a pale, drum, or anything like that to meet my needs. The pipe I have in there...
I haven't done any calcs with gypsum before. How would I calculate the max shear that a 1/4-20 bolt (could be grade 9 steel) could take, when holding up a ss mounting plate of 9.5mm thickness? The plate will be agains 5/8 gypsum with a clearance hole for the bolt. The bolts go into rivet nuts in...
Does anyone know how to verify what the minimum gauge requirement would be for a steel stud behind drywall? I think that ASTM C754 would have it, but I have no way of knowing without the document itself and I don't want to buy it just to find out that the min thickness isn't on there. Any help...
I have a shaft with a radial load of 2300 N. I have two deep groove ball bearings on the shaft, pressed into rotating members. Is there an equation to calculate the amount of radial load the bearings absorb? I'm trying to figure out how much torque resistance there would be on the shaft's...
I have a bar linkage system that ends up being a sort of 4 bar linkage. There are 2 bars running in parallel on either side of the "joints".
Each joint has a shaft with a bushing, with an H7/h7 fit.
My question is if there is an equation to determine what the tolerance would need to be from...
I need hang a 90 lb system from a wall with metal framing (studs). I was thinking I could cut through the drywall (it will be hidden by the system), and somehow install a threaded insert, but I obviously won't be able to use a press on an existing wall. I'm looking at a fastener around M12 or...
I have a 440C SS bolt going into a 6061-T6 aluminum member. I'm trying to figure out if I can tighten the bolt with a torque of 16 N-m.
Threads: M6 x 1.0
Length of Engagement: 31 mm
"Hanging" axial load: 15.6 N
Applied torque (preload): 16 N-m
Bolt material: 440C SS
Female thread material...
Is there a standard, perhaps ISO, for oversizing a D-profile shaft and mating hole? It's going to be a softer aluminum part (not a shaft, but a small length piece with a D flat), 8mm OD, going into 7075-T6. It needs to have 0 room for unwanted movement, so a small interference is required.
I'm making a shaft that looks like a shoulder bolt. It needs to be hard and have a tight tolerance.
I'm planning to induction harden it. It will have an M4 male threaded end, which mates to a female thread on a 6061-T6 aluminum machined part. There will regularly be torsional pressure on the...
