Looking for a gearmotor that will automaticaly switch to slower speed to increase torque when higher torque is required.

I assume that amp draw may trigger the speed switch. I have seen these used in applications, but I do not know the...
Some conveyor pulleys that have been in use for some time have spiral wrapped lagging made of SBR rubber. The lagging is reverting which is depositing unwanted substances on adjacent surfaces.
The belt that is driven by the pulleys has a PVC backing.
Do you know of a way to stop the reversion...
How are the mechanical properties of Nylon 6/6 affected due to moisture absorbtion.
I understand a typical value may be 3% moisture absorbtion by volume. How does this affect the tensile, yield, compression strengths?
Conversely, if in a very dry environment will the Nylon become more brittle...
ANSI/AFBMA Std 11-1990 paragraph 5.1.1.1 states that when two Radial Roller Bearings are used in a combination they should be considered as one double row angular contact bearing.
What is it that I am not seeing here?
Does anyone know of a source where Angular Contact Bearings can be obtained that are sealed or shielded on one or both sides?
I am not looking for high pricision spindle bearings just the standard ACB in a variety of sizes.
I understand that Barden used to offer a RSD design but it has been...
I've been trying to locate deep groove ball bearings with seals that are rated to about 400 deg. F.
I am not looking for High Temperature ball bearings. Just standard bearings that are available with seals that will withstand elevated temperatures.
Does anyone have any sources or ideas?
Any...
I am having a problem determining the contact stress of a Nylon 6/6 cylinder (roller) rolling a hardened steel flat rail.
In fact, finding a consistant value for yield strength of Nylon 6/6 is difficult and I am still not sure what to use.
I have concluded that 9000 psi is a 'safe' value to use...
We use 1144SP as shaft/stud material for products we manufacture.
The normal recommended operating temperature range for these products is -30 to 250 degrees F.
We want to offer a high-temperature line of these products that will have operating tempertures up to 400 degrees F.
Will the...
I discovered this exhaustive reference for terminology related to Mechanical, Metal, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering.
They will send a free hard copy on request.
Check it out.

What a great resource!
Is anyone familiar with a bearing coating process that inhibits corrosion similar to Timken's Aquaspexx coating?
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Devastating news about the latest crude oil tanker sinking.
The PRESTIGE broke up and sank.
If you were consulted on clean up what would you recommend?
I can't believe there was nothing yet in the Ocean Engineering or Environmental Engineering forums.
Do Petroleum Engineers work on clean...
"Atlas Shrugged" and "The Fountainhead" both by Ayn Rand, should be required reading for all engineers.
My Economics Professor recommended both to me years ago - I am indebted forever. He also told me to read the "Tao Teh Ching" frequently, which I do.
These...
We use tons of tapered roller bearings, but our supplier does not manufacture stainless steel ones.
We can get stainless steel ball bearings - good quality, no problems.
I would like to try some stainless steel tapered roller bearings (SSTRBs). But I don't have time or money to waste on poor...
We are welding SS shafts into SS hubs then machinging a smooth large radius where the weld is. We are seeing inclusions or 'pockets' in the weld when machinging it away.
We've tried mig, tig, spray, various gasses, polarities etc.
What is the "best" set-up for having a pure, solid...
I am trying to locate 1045 tubing with OD's of 3"-14" with a variety of wall thicknesses.
I can find companies (LTV Copperweld for example) that will make it for me. However 4 month lead times and 5000' minimums are not an option.
Does anyone know where this tubing may be stocked?
