    Hot key anomoly?

I've decided to change my hot keys from CTRL + ? to CTRL + SHIFT + ?. The intent is to get away from the usual CTRL + ? hot key combinations most Excel users have gotten used to. I've found a problem. Attached are two Excel files (CalcBlox-dir.xls and Loadings.xls). Each have macros and should...

    Excel END HOME problem

I've spent the last two days with an END HOME problem - it alway goes to EA358. The column EA1 contains the text 'lastcell', but there's nothing below row 8. I've even moved 'lastcell' to BA1 and cleared the contents, then deleted all the rows between 8 and 500. END Home still goes to EA358. I...

    running macro in different workbook

I need to run a macro that's in a closed workbook. The complete filespec is in cell W6 of the active sheet. The macro name is HIGHLITE. I'd like to do this without actually opening the workbook. Is this possible? If so some code would help a lot. Thanks, LonnieP

    Differential settlement

Please see post by same name in Geotech/foundation engineering. Maybe I should have posted it in Structural first because I'm not getting the feeling the Geotech people appreciate how big this issue could be. Or maybe I am over thinking the issue. HELP! LonnieP

    Differnetial settlement

Our structural office had started getting Soils Reports that indicate we should expect settlement in a thrity foot diameter circle, located anywhere across the building site. They give an expected range of settlement, just no location. Corner of the building gets real interesting. This sounds...

    header clearance under sliding door?

I've got an issue with a client (architect) who is trying to lay the blame of a sticking residential sliding glass wall on me alone. Beam spans 50'-0" and has a floor mounted (top guided) sliding glass wall system under it. The beam has deflected enough that the 1/2" the glass installer...

    Range name for a cell

I need a macro to give a cell a range name. Using the macro recorder I get: ActiveWorkbook.Names.Add Name:="modulename", RefersToR1C1:="=Sheet1!R6C7" Range("G6").Select How do I change this so the range is the currently active cell. I tried to leave the 'RefersTo' stuff off but it didn't...

    Load macro

?I’m having a problem duplicating one of my old Lotus macros using Excel and VBA. It records OK when I do it manually but it’s not very versatile in that form. The intent is to type a “filename” (without extension) into the currently active cell. Then manually move the cursor (Marque) back to...

    Steel deck crushing

Need some help with my memory. A few years back I noticed a paper on crush capacity of steel deck with a heavy load applied directly above the deck support(steel beams). Now I can't find it, or a reference to it. At the time I was surprised at how strong the deck was when loaded like a series of...

?Gentlemen: I have a spreadsheet SYSTEM (for structural engineering) I would like to transfer from Lotus to Excel. Excel seems to translate the sheet and modules to the point where they work correctly. The issue is getting the macros translated to Excel macros or VBL. Without the macros the...

Does anyone know if one of the steel stud manufacturers have their stud, track and joist engineering properties in a spreadsheet format for download. I'm not looking forward to typing it in. LonnieP
