    Parametric dimensioning

Say I have a part with four holes of equal size. On the drawing, I want to say 4X the size. Is there a way to drive that 4X from constraints on a sketch or a similar method? Such that, if I added a 5th hole to the part, the dimension would automatically update. Similar question for corner...

Using desired volume to drive cut-extrude depth dimension

I've got a funky shaped plastic fuel tank, and a fuel level sensor that measures a depth from a given point on the sensor. I used a cutout to create a solid part representing the fuel at a volume we want to call full. Since Creo can calculate the volume for me, I also know the volumes at 3/4...

    Part follow contours on assembly?

Is it possible to have a part follow the contours of another in an assembly? Say I'm trying to add a square of thin rubber to a surface. I'd like the rubber part to follow the contours of what I'm attaching it to. Is this even possible? Jeff Parham Mechanical Engineer - Design New Product...

    Creo Parametric 2.0 parameters

I'm relatively new to Creo, and have a couple questions regarding parameters. I notice that Creo is pulling parameters from many different sources. Where is it pulling the values for parameters like PDMREV and PROI_REVISION/PROI_VERSION? The source only says "PDM" which doesn't really tell me...

Creo Parametric R 2.0 - Changing scroll wheel zoom direction

I recently started a new position at a company using Creo Parametric R 2.0. This is my first exposure to Creo Parametric or anything from PTC other than MathCAD; I have formerly used Solidworks and CATIA V5. Is there a way in Creo to change the direction the scroll wheel zooms in and out? I've...

    File name limitations

Are there any limitations to the length of file names, or limitations to characters other than what Windows uses? I have been having Autosave crash on me, and after some "tests", I found out that files with a long name wold give an error, while the exact same files with a one word file name...

    Going from SolidWorks to Catia

I've been using SolidWorks for years, and recently changed jobs where they use Catia. Any quirks I should look out for? I got a few tutorials from a coworker. Are there any good tutorials out there that might be recommended? Thanks! Jeff Parham Structural/Mechanical Engineer

    Hardness testing - Preferred Method

Equotip (assuming proper calibration and trained tester) vs Brinell hammer: Any ideas on which is more accurate for testing the hardness? Thanks in advance. Jeff Parham Mechanical Engineer Mining Trucks

    Linde 86

I was digging through some old weld specs and ran across "Linde 86" called out as a consumable. Is that the same thing as ESAB Spoolarc 86? Jeff Parham Mechanical Engineer Mining Trucks

    NPT and NPTF

I've got two fittings. One with a male NPTF and the other with a female NPT. I know the two are somewhat interchangeable, but I was wondering if this would work. This isn't a high-pressure application, so some sort of sealing will be used. Thanks Jeff Parham Mechanical Engineer Mining Trucks

    GD&T Symbols

I am working with a drawing that came out of the Czech Republic, and it has some symbols I'm not familiar with. One is a vertical line "|" and the other is a caret symbol "^". Any ideas on what these mean? Jeff Parham Mechanical Engineer Mining Trucks
