    Flow Velocity for Sludge Applications

Hello All, I'm putting together a test pilot that is intended to run at a rated capacity of 200 gpm and preparing to use 6" nitrile lined hose. My concern is at 200 gpm I'm looking at a velocity as low as 2.25 ft/s. I question if that velocity is high enough to prevent any solid waste...

    Multimedia Filter Flowrates

Hello, I'm curious where I could find guidelines for service and backwash flows (gpm/sqft) through MMFs. Additionally, bedheight recommendations for the various media. Thank you.

    Motor Oil Dynamic Viscostity Data

Good day, I'm seeking dynamic viscosity data for SAE 10, 20, 30 and 40 grade oils at various temperatures, preferably between 15C and 40C. I need fluids with known viscosities from 50-350 cP that are cheap for a reseach project that I'm doing. I have reasonable data for the above grades @ 40C...

    Hydraulic Diameter

I know that for duct flow Dh=4hb/2(h+b) and that for a pipe the hydraulic diameter is just the ID of the pipe. What diameter would you use for a hollow pipe? i.e like the outer pipe on a pipe in pipe heat exchanger. Thanks for any input.

    Operating Curves vs. Fluid Temp

Hey guys (gals) I'm considering a condition where your fluid temperature varies with temperature. I know ( I think) when going from warm to cold your operating point shifts down/right. I'm trying to prove to myself why! I dusted off and cracked open my Smits book and considered the energy...

    Greensand Filter and KMnO4

Hello All, I'm a new guy here and I'll start with a brief into. I'm a mecahnical engineer working at a co that engineers industrial water purification systems. I've got a good grip on the fluid/mechanical aspect of my job, but I'm struggling with the chem. Right now one of our systems tht...
