Is there any way to know the curvature of the frame member from the analysis results? I need to know that in order to check whether the corresponding capacity is exceeded.
Thanks.
Anybody used hinge property to model post-yield behaviour?
I am using SAP to model thermal effect of a tunnel unde fire. I found that the thermal gradient generates quite high moments in the propping beams. I need to use hinges to model post-yield behaviour. But I have no idea how to do that in...
Does anybody know how to make a batch file so that the program can keep running a few models overnight without any manually opening different files after each run?
Thanks.
If a sap model has involved compressioin-only soil spring, does it need to run non-linear analysis for every primary load case and all load-combination cases as well?
I have modeled an underground tunnel in SAP, and there are quite a lot of soil spring (compression-only) defined. I appreciate...
Does anybody know whether it is possible to output force diagram such as bending moment diagram for area elements? I just knew SAP can output the contour. If I want to see some bending moment diagram along some sections, is there any easier way to do?
Heaps Thanks.
Anybody modelled elastic-plastic soil spring (compression only) for the underground structure in SAP?
I read the CSI analysis reference manual. By defining the link/support property can have a non-linear spring. Looking at the Wen Plasticity Property in Page 242, how can we define a...
I modelled floor slab as shell elements in SAP. If I have a point load vertically applied on some shell element, what is the best way to mesh this shell element? Do I need to mesh it manually so that the point where load is applied is one of the joints of the shell elements?
See the attachment...
Is there any faster way to mesh the slab defined as shell elements in SAP? In etabs, there is a function of "Auto Line Constraint" which can force the deformation compatability between different elements. Is there any similar function in SAP so that we can do the same thing?
Thanks heaps.
I have a one-storey building supporting the big tanks for beer producers. Each tank is supported by three columns. Due to the big seismic force, shear walls are introduced.
The structural system:
Shear walls on each corner (L-shaped walls);
3 internal columns on each tank location to...
