Steam valve on Waste Heat Boiler (475 psig set pressure).
Valve was tested in 2013 and sat on shelf for 3 years and it was put in service in 2016.
Operator says it's not past due since it's been in service for only two years even though last test date was in 2013.
Is it past due? has anyone...
Colleagues,
Here in the USA, is it mandatory that a FFS assessment needs to be signed/approved by a PE (Professional Engineer)?
If there's something in writing, I'd like to read it.
Thanks,
Hello colleagues,
We are trying to sort out sheets that are supposedly made of BUNA N and FKM.
Hardness shore A for both materials are very similar 70 vs 75. Is there another non-destructive method that we can use?
Thanks in advance,
Corgas

Came across two UL 142 tanks ( 650 bbls - cone roof) currently used to store slope oil. Just finished reading the UL 142 standard a didnt see anything on Lightning protection.
DO they need to have lightning protection installed (as per API RP 545) even though these are not API tanks,
Thanks...
I found following chart to determine minimum spacing between pipes and between pipes and structures.
Can anyone tell me if this is based on any published standard or code?
Thanks in advance,

Hello,
Can anyone tell me in which section of ASME B31.3 says that metallic flex hoses can not be used for permanent process piping?
Thanks in advance,

In ASME B31.1 parag 108.5.1 : "Bolts and bolt studs shall extend completely through the nuts".
Is there a similar wording in ASME B31.3?
Thanks,

I've read thread 292-69658 and in that thread some members of this forum mentioned that they've used ASME B31.8. I went back and read again ASME B31.8 - 2010. According to 802.1(b)(6) flow lines between wellhead and/or separator traps are outside scope of this standard. This is also shown on Fig...
Colleagues:
Can PRE numbers be applied to predict resistance to MIC (Microbiologically Induced Corrosion)? After all, Mo improves the passive layer. Is there a published relationship between PREN Vs resistance to MIC?
Thanks,

Colleagues,
After calculating stress ratio according to ASME B31.3 (2008 edt) Fig. 323.2.2B, General note (a)(1), number is well below 0.3 (it doesn't intersect curve). What reduction in minimum design temperature can I use?
Thanks in advance.

I just came across a piping spec which list HDPE pipe (PE3608) as the piping material. I checked B31.4 code and did not find any reference to non metals piping materials.
Does B31.4 allows use of HDPE piping?
Thanks,

Colleagues, I need your help again.
Gas from new wells with higher H2S concentration is requiring injection of H2S scavenger (ethanolamine). Pipe is PE 3608 (HDPE)and service is Dry Gas, low pressure (< 100 psi) and low temp (< 80 F).
Before I get lectured, I have searched previous "threads"...
This double wall tank storages H2SO4 and is made of HDXLPE (crosslinked HDPE). Wall thickness calcs were done according to ASTM D 1998.
Is there a standard similar to API 653 for non-metal tanks? intention is to assign inspection interval and use some kind of "inspection checklist" similar to...
I recently came across following :
"On completion of welding the ring(s) shall be radiographed. Radiographic methods and acceptance criteria are specified in SP-1025, except that the position and description of all imperfections detected by radiography shall be reported."
What's this SP-1025...
I just came across a piping spec for underground Gas Pipeline - Sour Service (NACE MR0175/ISO 15156)designed according to ASME B31.8 -2007.
Design temps are -50F to 140 F.
Since I'm not familiar with B31.8 I started reading this document and on para 802.12 (b)it says:

For a tank (400 BBL) built to API 12F type A (Flat),
is it mandatory to install a flame arrestor?
If it is, please indicate standard, code or recommended practice.
