Is there any way to tell what version of AutoCAD a drawing was saved in without opening the file? I have a directory that has been opened by numerous people with numerous versions, but I need to know what drawings were saved as 2000 and which need to be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just received a drawing on my desk with a callout which reads " TS6" x .5" x 1" " and also " TS1 1/2" x 1" x 2" "
What does this "TS" mean? I believe it is a material callout, as these are callouts to 2 seperate pieces welded together for a bracket. I have never seen this before, can anyone...
I am a newly promoted "Mechanical Designer" from Sr. Draftsman (I am only 21) and am responsible for creating new standards and drafting practices for our department.
My question is: How do you normally depict finishes and materials on detail/fabrication drawings? For example, I have a bracket...
We recently received drawings from a customer that try to plot using only stb plot styles (named plot styles) I don't have a lot of experience with these, I've always used color dependant plot styles (ctb) I understand it is associated with the layout and drawing specific. I need to know how to...
Hopefully a simple question. While working in 3D modelspace, my ucs stays oriented to the TOP view, meaning anytime I'm in another view, say FRONT, I cannot rotate an object based on how I am currently looking at the object. Basically, I want the UCS to always be in the x,y coordinate plane, no...
I'm trying to open a file created in another department. I was told it was created with Mechanical 2005 (which is what I'm running) But when I do anything to open the file, after coming up as a read only (I just tell it to open read only anyway) it comes up with the following message:
Access...
I am finding a HUGE lag in the 2005 mechanical layer manager. It'll take forever to actually load the layers, and even then it doesn't actually show the layer states (I can move the mouse over the thaw or freeze and select it, but I can't actually see the icon to know what it curently is) any...
I just loaded up my new seat of Inventor with Mechanical Desktop 2005. My problem comes when I try to add my express tools. I have a 2004 full cd that has the express tools, but it will not install them in any 2005 programs. I tried to simply copy the files from my laptop (which has 2004 and...
I have 2005lt at my new office. I am currently buying either full 2005 or inventor (but thats another post) My question is, I have copies of 2000, 2002, and 2004 full. An associate who I am working with loves Osnap tracking. Is there a way to take the code from one of the full versions I have...
I am a big AutoCAD fan and LOVE the functionality of express tools and models for updating and standardizing drawings. How much of the functionality translates to the mechanical desktop?
The Autodesk website says "some of the base features" I'm concerned with the commands like layer isolate...
I am an AutoCAD draftsman (I've used every version from 13 to 2005, both full and lt) and just started a new job as a Sr. Draftsman heading up a new drafting dept. for a large communications / engineering company. They are going to give me my choice of AutoCAD 2005 full or Inventor.
My question...
Does anyone know of a company that will convert a hardcopy plan (24 x 36) to a workable AutoCAD drawing?
I have corel and can get a scan of the sheet, and I know I can convert it to a dxf, but the drawing is splines on a single layer. I was hoping someone might know a company that will convert a...
Has anyone else experienced this let down? Apparently 2004 says it retained the pljoin.lsp program in a new format, but it doesn't work! I can't load the lsp found in the support files (and yes I did load all of the express menus) and "pljoin" means jack to autocad help. Anyone else...
Help!
I recieved some Pro/E files from a customer and I need a translator to 2002. The files are in .prt, .drw and .asm format. Does anyone know know where I can get a translator, I don't have pro/e or know much about it, but I do know the customer won't export them in a dwg for me anyway. Any...
While at a contracting company, I was using AutoCAD 2002 and there was a setting refering to blocks I can not remember. When you double-click on a attribue in a block block, the enhanced dialog box would appear and the attribute you clicked on would be the first one you could edit, instead of...
