Table 7 shows the forces and moments for Horizontal and Vertical Tubes. The diagram also shows Fx as "Tube Centerline".
Is the "Tube Centerline" the centerline of the shell OR the centerline of the nozzle to which the loads are being applied??
thanks
Am I required to follow the rules of UW-13.1 if I am welding a hemispherical head directly to an Appendix 2 weld neck flange? (my nominal head thk is less than my flange hub thk)

When designing a lift lug for a heat exchanger or pressure vessel is the lug required to be welded to the shell? (like a nozzle and reinforcing pad design)
OR does the lift lug sit "on top" of the pad? With the lug welded only to the pad and the pad is then welded to the vessel. (like a wear...
When I am in my assembly and change a part length the BOM in the assembly does not update completely.
For example:
-While in my assembly I change the description and length of part "A".
-The part then updates completely in my assembly.
-When a BOM is made the PART DESCRIPTION...
Has anyone used non-metallic baffles on a heat exchanger before? Exchanger is a 14" dia. x 228" lg "BEU". I have heard of a material called Rayon that might work but I am worried about wrecking my baffles during bundle insertion.
Any material suggestions would be great.
Thanks!
Can anyone give me a recommendation for the tube wall reduction on SB-163 N08825 tubes? I want to roll my tube to tubesheet joint but not sure what my target tube wall reduction should be (wall reduction measured in percentage of tube wall thickness.
Thanks
Is it possible to save an assembly off as a new file name and have the file path for all my parts remain the same?
I have tried multiple ways and every time I save the assembly as a new name ALL the parts get copied into the new file directory. If what I am experiencing is true, there is no way...
Does anyone have any experience with hydroexpanding (instead of a plain roll) heat exchanger tube to tubesheet joints? We currently roller expand our joints and still have leakage problems which forces us to then add a strength weld. I am hoping that hydroexpanding will eliminate a strength...
Currently I utilize the "Equivalent Pressure Method" to derate all of my ASME Code Appendix 2 flanges. It is very easy to use but it is also VERY conservative.
I understand that you can also use the "Equivalent Axial Force Method": F = 4M/G
Where:
M = moments acting on the flange
G = mean...
