How do you get centerlines on a SolidWorks drawing to simply have a LONG-short-LONG piece, and that's it!?? (not keep repeating).
Is there any easy way to get them to look right? Thanks.

We have a situation where we would like to create a drawing in milliradians. Milliradians are a simple calculation of inverse tangent of rise over run where rise is the actual linear dimension, run is a constant we already have, and then multiply the whole thing by 1000 to get the “milli” part...
Does anyone have experience lasing (or "lasering") parts with a part number straight out of a solidworks drawing?
We have found in our first day that we are getting better results just doing it straight out of Microsoft Word. [In SolidWorks > Document Properties & Print Options] We reduced...
Guys,
I'm suffering memory loss and need some help and possibly a reference [standard] to verify but I've always known "closed" dimensioning to be wrong.
This is where you have:
|<----- 1 ----->|<--------- 2 --------->|
as opposed to this:
|<-----------------3 ------------------>|
|<----- 1...
Guys,
I'm messing around with SolidWorks trying to recreate a digital data set from the Drawing Requirements Manual, specifically the image in Figure 26-1, which I would post but I'm not sure that's legal. It doesn't matter because all you have to do is picture a simple part with geometry...
In SolidWorks and I believe other platforms they have this option to turn a dimension into an inspection dimension (see example below):
The problem is we can't find anything on this in a standard. We specifically follow ASME Y14 and can't find any coverage on this format.
Can anybody shed...
We have A,B,C,D size prints. A common practice for us is to take a big D-size drawing (slddrw) and quickly print a B-size hard copy to markup. The problem is that the line weights seem to stay the same size we would want on a D-size, which is huge and blobby on a B-size. Things that should...

Hey guys,
I stumbled on the old thread above, noticed it was from 3 years ago so I wanted to bump and update as I just took the CSWP. I would suggest reading this if you are interested in the CSWP and haven't attempted it yet.
I've attached the CSWP practice exam, created by...
The following issue has plagued me for several years now.
Inside a title block, where you have the part's description, how do you SIMULTANEOUSLY achieve the following goals:
1. Make the note horizontally center alligned
2. Make the note vertically center alligned
3. Keep all note text inside...
I gotta think that just about every SolidWorks guy out there understands this plight and if a solution exists, please enlighten me. I will be forever grateful.
OK, a part has a description, and it's captured in the SolidWorks custom properties. Then you have a drawing. It also has a...
Guys,
Hopefully this one will blow you away as much as it did me.
I have 2 individuals arguing over whether or not you show a Rev A symbol in the body of a Rev A print... to indicate what had changed, b/c in this example this new Rev A print was largely based on an old print. Is this making...
Hey guys,
Can anyone tell me what ASME Y14.3M has to say about doing assembly section views containing fasteners like bolts, screws, nuts, washers, etc.???
We are in a debate at my work about what objects you don't section in a section view. All I have here are subsets of the ASME standard...
Where in SolidWorks do you specify the path to the Gtol.sym file?
This is the file that governs what your symbols library looks like.
I attached an image of the symbols library GUI.
Now that I've customized it, I want to make sure all my users can pointed to a central place on the network...
Does anyone know of any easy way to track license usage of SolidWorks on a network? We have the FLexLM application that shows us how many licenses we own, who is using them, and how many are left. I'm looking to gather a log of this information as we are beginning to "bottom out" on licenses...
I'm looking for suggestions on how to redline (mark up) a SolidWorks drawing electronically. Does anyone on here do red lines electronically? Is there a way to track changes (like in MS Word)? Would eDrawings be the best option for this?
Currently we use real red pens on real paper, but it's...
Everybody I know is having this problem with "Failed to launch server application".
We get this random error message when trying to open a existing Design Table in a part or assembly.
I can't seem to isolate what is causing it and my VAR fix is to turn our PDMWorks Enterprise Add-in off and...
We run Mastercam (X3) and PDMWorks Enterprise.
It appears these 2 programs don't play nicely. It's gotten to the point where we have to keep all our Mastercam files outside of PDMWorks Enterprise, which is frustrating, as PDMWorks Enterprise would be an excelent tool for managing them, along...
Hey guys,
I just had a print brought to my attention that has a standard drawing title block tolerance and then a repeat, fine-tune of that tollerance in the notes (see attached file).
We observe ASME Y14.5M.
This approach doesn't sit right, however, I'm wondering if you guys know of some...
Hey guys,
What is the deal when you've been working in solidworks for a while, and suddenly your desktop wallpaper shows through your model? You mouse over what should be your model, and all you get are wire frame lines. The screen isn't updating.
Some think it has to do w/ the screen saver...
We (my company) currently uses the MIL-STD-100 spec.
I was just out online and found this:
http://www.interfacebus.com/mil-std-100-canceled.html
Which states:
MIL-STD-100G, dated 9 June 1997 is hereby canceled. Future requirements for engineering drawings should refer to the following American...
