    Definition of sideslip in helicopters

In a fixed wing aircraft the sideslip manouevre is used to loose height rapidly without gaining airspeed. In a helicopter is the Sideslip regime just defined as moving at an angle (the sideslip angle) to the airflow or does a helicopter also loose altitude during a sideslip? References please.
