Is this possible ?

Humid air contains more energy than the same amount of dry air and water at the same temperature. Would it be possible to take humid air ( e.g. at sea ) compress it, with heat exchenger cool it, precipitate the water and recover the energy from heat and pressure to drive the compressor. Would...

    Hg in batteries ?

If I remember correctly, the Zn-C batteries contain some Hg used to protect the Zn from corrosion during storage. Anyone knows how much ? Do they represent some environmental risk ? <nbucska@pc33peripherals.com> omit 33 Use subj: ENG-TIPS Plesae read FAQ240-1032

    Algae for fuel?

I have read somewjere that algae can be grown for startch or oil -- depending on the groth medium. Single cell organism grow and mutate faster. Wouldn't be possible to develop a strain and method for growing algae for fuel ? <nbucska@pcperipherals DOT com> subj: eng-tips read FAQ240-1032

lens with "float glass" process ?

A small glass pellet of measured size melts on a tin (?) bath and contracts. A large pellet gives a slightly rounded disc, a small one a flattened sphere -- between the two extremes there must be a combination of size, temperature, gravity etc. which gives a lens which is closest to the...

Switch lifetime at a capacitive load

The lifetime of a switch is usually 10,000 cycles at AC line voltage. How does the lifetime changes if I use it to switch a 12V circuit which has 1000 uF input filter and much lower steady state current ? <nbucska@pcperipherals DOT com> subj: eng-tips read FAQ240-1032
