I am involved in testing hydraulic tubing system (design pressure = 3000psi).
I have tested two sections individually.
I plan to join these two sections with JIC fittings.
Can anyone advise if I may do a "service leak test" of the system with pressure provided by the hydraulic system (ie the...
Has anyone out there got experience of using the McCrometer v-cone flow meter for metering wet gas at a wellhead?
I have used venturis before but the v-cone flow meter has some apparent advantages (e.g. smaller required space envelope and lower cost).

I am looking at wet natural gas piping system.
An expert has advised that hydrate crystals have a tendency to accumulate at piping bends (radius < 3d).
Intuitively, this does not seem right. Also I have been unable to find any references to the phenomenum on the internet.
Has anyone got any...

I want to calculate increase in pressure in empty vessel (volume is approx. 2m3) due to gas (methane) flow into the vessel at a known rate (approx. 6 standard m3 per minute).
Could a kind process engineer out there let me know how to do the calculation?
Thanks.

I want to use 316L stainless steel hydraulic tubing on an offshore platform (field life approx. 10 years) offshore Ireland.
I am advised that 316L will corrode and that I must therefore paint it.
I don't want to paint because I believe it is not necessary in my application and for obvious cost...
Is flux cored arc welding a good process for site welding of structural steel?
Has there been any history of weld cracking associated with this process?
Thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.
It is a fairly common practise to overlay carbon steel componenents with alloy 625. Valve seat pockets and flange ring grooves are two applications which I have encountered many times in the petrochemical industry.
Recently, I heard about a crack like failure between overlay and carbon steel in...
We have some above ground steel pipework with polypropylene (PP) coating in a petro-chemical plant.
Whilst the PP coating has proved to be a very robust for buried pipeline useage, we understand that it will degrade over time in sunlight.
We believe we have 2 options:
a) Strip PP off and use...
I have got an electro-hydraulic 15ton SWL crane fitted with something called automatic crane protection system. I want to test and use the crane in UK.
Do I have to test the crane at 1.1 or 1.25 x SWL?
Do I have to think about the structural and mechanical strength separately from hydraulic...
Sorry for this one - I'm new to ASME B31.3.
I need to design piping for normally unmanned locaction.
Pressure = 1400psi
Temperature = 80F
Fluid is natural gas with approx. 0.45mol% hydrogen sulphide.
Is Class M service applicable under B31.3?
