Hello! Our site employs calcium chloride as a secondary refrigerant that is circulated through several heat exchangers for ground freezing.
We have developed an crystallization problem and confirmed with our brine supplier that they have had elevated sodium chloride levels in the brine that we...
Good Afternoon,
I'm pretty sure I have the answer to my question already but I wanted to bounce it off this board to get some feedback. We have two PSV's in a closed loop refrigeration loop with calcium chloride as the fluid. We had an extended power outage and everything warmed up to the point...
Good Morning Everyone!
It has been a long time since I have had to size a PSV and I am a little rusty :) My scenario is blocked outlet from a pump (centrifugal) capable of 110m of head at shutoff. My questions is............what do I use for a flowrate for the relief case? I can't use the...
Hi Everyone,
We are having issues at our facility with a mag meter and a metering pump. The pump is an electric diaphragm pump with adjustable stroke length used for metering ferric sulfate into a tank.
The problem is that we aren't getting accurate readings from the flowmeter because the...
Hello Everyone,
I am currently in a disagreement with our process design consultant on a PSV that is relieving butane from a vessel. He has sized the PSV without accounting for any builtup backpressure on the PSV outlet. It is a conventional PSV with no bellows.
The PSV is releiving 4500 SCFM...
Hello All,
I have just started with a new company that is in mid construction of their facility. I have been asked to size a header pipe (if it is possibly to connect 4 PSV's to a common header to discharge out of the building) or route separate discharge lines out of the building.
The PSV's...
I am sizing a small jet pump to lift a low flowrate of water into a building for a temperature measurement.
The problem is that a high amount of lift is required.
I have a pump selected that has a good amount of lift but the disclaimer says the capacities are given at near sea-level...
Okay.....I am troubleshooting a plant that processes "dirty" water in a reverse osmosis plant and they have had issues regarding pH control of the permeate which is discharged to the environment.
Caustic is added before and after the water passes through the R.O. membranes to bring up the pH...
We have 3 water lines flowing intermittently into a collection sump and then one large pipe gravity draining out of the sump and into a large containment pit.
I need to size an air vent on the collection sump big enough so that it won't collapse. Any help would be great!!!
Thanks,
Nathan
I am doing some hydraulics and I can't seem to find the k value for a wafer style check valve anywhere. Anyone know where to find it or have an approximation that they use? I also need the k value for a duck billed check but I am not sure that there is a k value out there.
Thanks in advance,
Nathan
I am wondering if there is a spec or a rule of thumb for the minimum pipe distance between the chlorine injector and residual analyzer to ensure adequate mixing?
Does anyone have any experience with using peristaltic hose pumps to move raw sludge?? (up to 5% solids) If so, what location? How often do hoses have to be replaced?
Thanks,
Nathan
