I'm involved in a project which involves the replacement of an 11kV switchboard on an industrial 11kV underground network. The new switchboard has surge arresters which are within the zone of the high impedance busbar protection scheme. The client has asked whether the bus zone protection...
I'm looking at a small waste to energy plant where the generator output will be around 20MW at 11kV. Unfortunately the only possible utility connection is at 220kV. Is it possible to build a 220/11kV transformer with such a small rating?

In a power plant where the station auxiliaries are fed from 2x 132/11kV transformers straight onto the station main 11kV switchboard, and the generator is separately connected to a 11/132kV delta star step up transformer feeding straight to a 132kV C/B on the 132kV bar at the main substation...
I've been asked to provide some system planning data for the transmission company relating to a new 66/11kV substation including the circuit electrical characteristics for the 66kV cables feeding the new transformers.
The information required is per unit positive and zero sequence resistance...
Does anyone have any experience with the use of fibre optics embedded with the screens of HV and EHV polymeric cables for real time measurement of conductor temperature and detection of water ingress? I'm thinking of trialling the technology in the Company I work for and would be interested to...
Gents, I'm sure many of you will find the attached clip amusing. There will no doubt be many of you who as a kid, like me, took things to bits without thinking of how to put them back together, and who made it to adulthood by the skin of their teeth. I have many a fond memory of drawing an arc...
