The arc of 4 to 5KW high pressure Xenon lamps originate at the cathode tip.
In operation, the visible arc of our Osram lamps "wanders" with the consequence that the intensity
via our optics fluctuates up to a few percent (we image the arc onto a pinhole and collimate with a parabola).
The lamp...
Ryton PPS bearing grade must change significantly at very high temperatures, above 300 C
Where can I get data on mechanical properties for this temperature ?
Nothing useful from polymer supplier was forthcoming.
Does this material degrade gracefully, get soft or turn to ??
I need only modes...
I need a materials for a small flexure with very low thermal conductivity that will survive +250C and have maximum strength. Also need to provide discharge path for static electricity and be machinable.
Suggestions please.
Does adhesion to a Tiodized surface depend upon the titanium alloy which has been Tiodized?
i.e. If I change alloys could I have difficulty bonding glass to the base part?
Importing Inventor *.iam files to designstar 2008 done via *.stp or *.igs results in a set of parts that do not have the original connectivity (constraints). the models can ber "disassembled" with great ease, an undesireable feature at best.
How can this import be done without loosing connectivity?
Pure tine forms wiskers and is prohibited as a coating in aerospace applications.
Can x-ray fluoresence be used to determine tin concentration in thin coatings?
(thin being under about 0.0004 inch)
Are NIST traceable standards available for calibration of the equipment for this measurement?

Does anyone have temperature dependant properties for RTV 566? In particular, elastic modulus and poisson ratio. the temperature range of interest is from -190 C to + 200 C if available
Low density polyurethane foam is used to fill the space between a series of PCBs which are edge mounted to provide vibrational damping. How do you characterize the modulus for the reticulated foam at the resonant frequency of the assembly, in the 500 to 1000 Hz range?
Material is viscoelastic...
Looking for proven method of making electical contacts to silicon chips that can withstand cycling -100C to + 100C > 20,000 cycles with cycle time of few minutes. Am attempting to join kovar to plated silicon using soldering. Has any one done this? All suggestions appreciated.
