I work with a number of firms that have a bad habit of renaming files or creating new folders as the design proceeds. This creates issues with ref files. I always used CADD with the standard that "file names remain the same" thruout the life of the project. This especially applies to xref's. I...
We have multiple users for a large project. Microstation V8. When different users open up cut sheet files we are finding that the reference file's scales are different than original. We save settings and have the save settings for the reference file on as well. Many times we also need to redo a...
Is it just me, or is it true that you CANNOT attach an image file with LT at all. I just downloaded ACAD LT 2006 for demo (I use ACAD 2005 at work) and I found that I cannot attach an image file. Any shortcuts here from anyone?
OK, I admint I'm stumped. The property window seems to have a mind of its own! I set units to 1 decimal place, dimensions to 1 decimal place. I turn on the properties window. I click on a polyline (to get the area) I get a Square inch, and Square feet that has 3 decimal places!
Anyone out there...
I need to extract the area of closed polylines AND extract text strings that are contained within the polyline for linkage or output to an excel spreadsheet. Is VBA the way to go here? Does VBA work with ACAD LT? Any other ideas? Thank you in advance for your advice.
I need to place a hyphen within the dimension text,
for example: 1 1/2" would be displayed as 1-1/2". I cannot find how to do this within the dimension parameters. Any thoughts?
I don't remember how to take ALL lineweights from a Microstation file and make them all Weight 0 in a reference file without having to change it in the orignal reference file. Any ideas?
A simple question for the fellow CADD masters out there, when I am in the MTEXT Window for text input, I need to use the "OK" button on the screen when I am complete with the text entry. I do not like grabing the mouse and clicking on "OK" everytime I am done with text.
I'm a keyboard type of...
Is there a way to make the Mtext window look like the old one, I don't like the "split" window of both the text window and the controls window (why is the "OK" pick so small on this as compared to ACAD2002...)
With dimscale set to "zero" the dimscale is set automatically to the value of the current viewport in use, is there a way to do the same thing for TEXT only (ie use the scale of the viewport to automatically scale the text up to the correct scale for that view)?
A new version of ACAD, same old word doc problem. Does anyone know how to actually make this work effectively? I need to set up specs on drawings (8 pages fit onto a 22X34 sheet) and have the file be able to be updated either in word or in acad. OLE does ot work effectively and I was told that...
When I manually create a new layer called "defpoints" (I know this is a "special layer" used for dims, etc.), I find I cannot snap to any element in that layer, although the elements do show up on the screen. Is there a variable setting that allows defpoints' layers elements...
I use both Microstation and ACAD. I can plot 50 microstation plots in about 2 minutes, ACAD takes 10-15 minutes for the same amount of plots. Does anybody out there know of any quicker way to batch plot, 3rd party software, other ideas?
We are on a network version of ACAD 2002. Everytime I save my "options" settings and update my profile in the current session with ACAD everything works fine. BUT, when I close ACAD and start it again, my settings are not saved, I need to manually go back and change settings such as #...
I have an xref file that has plines with a thickness. On the original file, the plines show up as solid lines with thickness, when I use this file as an xref, the plines do not show up as filled, only the outer edges and a centerline show up. Fill is "on", and I checked most things I...
Does anyone know how to turn off the snap for an xref only, is there a way to do this? I want to leave the xref on the screen, but ONLY snap to the actual elements in my dwg file, not on the xref elements.
We are considering using ACAD Bldg Elec for some 3D work, specifically for interference checking on some very tight conduit bends on some tunnel walls. Have any of you used the product, does it do effective conduit interference checking, any other comments about it?
I have 3 or 4 different pieces of text that needs to be aligned. All have centered justification. I want to pick a point and have all 3 lined up to the "x" value of the pick point. Anyone know of any lisp or vba that will do this? I have about 1200 sets of these to do so any help would...
I can't remember the variable that controls the opening and keeping drawing file settings for osnap, ie what do I do to keep the osnap on, grid on, etc when I open a drawing so the settings of the drawing are on when I open it?
